Postbase Agent Skills are instruction packs for coding agents. Install them
once and your agent knows how to use the Postbase REST API:
which endpoints to call, the fields each one takes, each network’s limits, and
how to retry safely, without you explaining it in every prompt.
Install
Run this where your coding agent reads skills:
Then create an API key under Developers in Postbase and make it available
to your agent as an environment variable:
The source is on GitHub: postbasehq/skills.
The skills
Try it
“Schedule a LinkedIn post and a shorter X post for tomorrow at 9am announcing this release.”
The agent lists your channels, writes both versions, schedules them as one post
with separate text for X, and gives you the time. Later:
“Did the launch post go out? Send me the links.”
Ask the agent to schedule rather than post right away. Everything it creates
shows up on your Postbase calendar, where you can edit, reschedule or cancel
it before it goes out.
Skills or MCP?
Both use the same Postbase API, limits and workspace.
- Use Agent Skills when your agent works in a terminal or repo and makes
HTTP calls, for example to script posting from a release pipeline.
- Use the MCP server when your AI tool supports MCP
(Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude Code). It gives the tools directly and you
sign in with Postbase, so there’s no key to store.
Troubleshooting
- The agent doesn’t use the skills: install them in the same environment
(project or user) that the agent reads from, then start a new session.
- 401 Unauthorized: check that
POSTBASE_API_KEY is set for the agent and
that the key hasn’t been revoked. GET /api/v1/me tells you which workspace a
key belongs to.
- It picks the wrong account: ask it to list your channels first, then name
the one you mean.
